    Webshop selling vacuum cleaner parts
  • Dustarmy
Vacuum cleaner parts are not the most sexy product one can imagine. Perhaps that's one of the reasons why those products are not properly sold through online shops. Making a trustworthy and reliable graphical interface for selling those non-sexy products was at least a challenge. A challenge which Designia was eager to take.

Webshop Dustarmy sells vacuum cleaner parts and accessories to consumers and small retailers.

    Briefing
Dustarmy asked Designia to deliver an Interaction and Visual Design of their new webshop. On one hand Dustarmy needed an attractive but most of all easy-to-use online showroom. On the other hand Dustarmy focussed on the secure ordering system of the shop, behind a login for members.

This ordering system was not easy to develop because of the large volumes. A lot of product information needed to be presented in structured and clean way. While the download speed should be kept within reasonable proportions.

    Identity Design
An important part of the briefing was to design a logo. The name of the brand was a heritage from previous futile attemps to design a unique and recognisable online identity. Michiel Nagtegaal (Designia) started from scratch and suggested a simplified and cartonesk version of a vacuum cleaner. To emphasize the 'army' part in the webshop name, the cartoon character was given a helmet.

    Art Direction en stijlbepaling
Designia delivered a design with bright contrasting colors, large margins between the graphical elements and kept in mind to focus on the function and call-to-action of a webpage. It is easy to forget what is really important on a webpage, what the real goal of the page is.
Description
Dustarmy contacted Dutch Freelance Senior Designer / Art Director for the Interaction Design and Visual Design of a new webshop. The webshop will be selling vaccuum cleaner parts.

Part of the project was to design an attractive store front but at the same time the backend interface required a lot of attention.
